Cool gifts for HIM

Many of you are probably still deciding what to buy your boyfriend, brother or your guy friend for Christmas. In fact,I think buying presents for guys is soo much more difficult than buying presents for girls because not only they barely talk about what they want, but when you think about it,they dont even need that much to be happy.(just kidding) I usually always end up buying clothes or some house decorations, but this year I wanted to chose better stuff and therefore I spent more time on websites and in stores.I am very happy to say that I have all of the presents sorted early this year, but if you were not lucky enough or simply havent got enough time, here are some tips that can inspire you on what to buy him, picked according to my personal style.Just remember to always think about his hobbies, favorite movie or T.V show or simply a clothing brand he has the most clothes from.(Or just do it like I did it,just choose what you think will look/suite him the best)

Christmas gift ideas for HER

If you haven't noticed the Christmas spirit spreading through your city, streets full of lights and decorations, overcrowded shopping centres and shopping streets, overdecorated shopping windows and Christmas markets everywhere, you should come to London.I swear this city goes nuts during Christmas period.Oxford street is full of people every day and every night, street artists, dressed up as various characters from North Pole are singing Jingle Bells and are offering themselves for pictures with tourists, fake snow is falling down from Harrods's roof and the whole city is decorated and lighted with Christmas lights and decorations.Even though,it wasn't until yesterday when I realized Christmas is behind the corner, and all of that just because I worked at Christmas party for one anonymous company.I actually love Christmas, because since I moved to London,it is a special time for me to spend with my family and eat good food, but it is always a problem for me to chose the best Christmas gifts. You usually want to buy the most expensive and best presents for your loved ones, because you feel like they deserve it,but you don't have that much money. It is not hard for anyone to pick gifts for me,because like every girl, there wasn't a day when I wouldn't say I liked something,or wanted to buy something, but I simply haven't had enough money.By that I mostly mean clothes, shoes, acessories, parfumes and other similiar stuff. However,it is hard to buy gifts for someone, who simply doesn't say what he wants. As for example your mom,dad or boyfriend/girlfriend.Therefore I decided to choose some gifts which may make it easier for you to decide what to buy.In this post it will be for HER.

Halloweed

Halloween weekend is already gone and the last remaining alcohol in my body as well.I am getting back to reality and to writing essays and doing projects for school which are due in next two weeks.
I was planning on posting some DIY tutorial for at least two last minute costumes, but because I was even late with my costume I didn't have time to do anything else. Also I am pretty sure you guys are all very creative and can come up with a costume idea on your own.And if not, youtube tutorials are here to save us!If you haven't dressed up for Halloween for any reason, you can get some ideas from this post because today I picked 5 favorite costumes I've spot with my eye either on social media or in real life and couple of costume fails/basics which I think are hitting the bottom of creativity. If I wanted to be totally right,I would only choose costumes that are somehow scary, but because Halloween is nowadays one of the biggest commercial events and people tend to dress up for anything-at least they are dressed up,I will shut my mouth and pretend this issue doesn't bother me.

Fav costumes

1.David Bowie

2.Cactus

3.food- tacos,pizza etc
 4.Dead bride

5. Drake

FAILS

1.Minions

Maybe it's because I hate minions with all my heart,or simply because it's so basic and over-done,but since minions have started to appear on clothes, mobile phone covers, bed sheets and god knows where,I immediately assume that person with minion costume has no style and just goes with the flow.(sorry people)

2.Slutty anything

No words needed for this, even though we all know a quote from mean girls which says that Halloween is the only time of the year when girls can dress up as sluts and not be judget for it.False.I judge you and I think you are an attention seeking whore.

3.Cat

Cats everywhere. You drew a nose and whiskers on your face with your eye-liner and call it a costume. It's too easy and simple, unless you are going for Grumpy Cat.Cause that would be hilarious. But yeah, lack of time, I get it.Or you simply just wanted to get that chipotle burrito for 2 pounds like I did.

I hope you all had great Halloween and you at least lit a candle for those who are not with us anymore, because that's what's this feast is about.

Green Initiative

Hey.So I called to work to say I am sick today because I haven't had any rest this past week and I wanted to have some time for myself. Therefore I am chilling at home, cooking, cleaning and posting this new article which is finally school-related.
Last year we were told to write a feature story about green initiative in London.Believe me,it was quiet difficult to get the right person to do the interview with because most of the people were busy or didn't even answer my emails/pick up their phone.Fortunately this nice lady made some time in her busy schedule to answer few questions for me.I was little bit nervous, since it was my first real interview but I think it turned out really good.Deshni Nadar works as a character environmentalist for the borough of Tower Hamlets(East London) and she answered me few questions regarding her work as well as all the enhancements that are coming to the borough this year. However the story is not in an interview format, but it is rewrited into a feature article. Hope you will like it.

With rising population in London, there is a need to build more and more buildings, each year for both business and housing purposes. The fumes from cars and factories, as well as those from constructions are influencing air quality on a big scale.

Deshni Nadar is a charter environmentalist and she works for a local authority in the borough of Tower Hamlets. Her work is to ensure environmental improvements with specialization on air quality.

Deshni enjoys working in the environmental sector and she says that people's interest in knowing more about the environment makes her job even more interesting.

“People are writing in about it, they contact their local MP's because they really want to know about what we do for the local environment.”

According to Deshni, most of the pollution comes from the main roads, also called “air roads” and therefore the borough is working very closely with Transport for London to reduce it.

They recently established “20 miles per hour borough” which means that people are allowed to drive only 20 mile per hour within the borough and that assist good air quality.

One of the services that has recently been established to inform people about the air pollution in their area is AirText.

It's a health information service for anyone who lives or works in the borough.

”It's based on pollution forecasting, so people who are subscribed to the service get a text message or voice message saying that the next day the pollution is going to be high, so for example asthmatic people can avoid running on major roads.” says Deshni.

It's done by monitoring air pollution via monitoring services near tube stations and main roads. These are based in Mile End, Bethnal Green and Poplar.

Shah Kamal, a resident of Tower Hamlets is one of the users of AirText. He says that:” I go running every day to stay in shape and because I care about my health, I always check my phone to know what the pollution is going to be.”

The borough of Tower Hamlets had many projects in the past, one of them was for example London Olympics in which they ensured that it was the greenest game delivered.

Currently they are working on improving air quality near Tower Bridge caused by traffic while the bridge is opening and closing.

“We are going to put up signs to say to turn off your engine while people are waiting for the bridge to close and we believe it will reduce a lot of pollution in the area.”

Because most of the pollution comes from roads and cars, the borough is also encouraging people to cycle and walk more. They are also working on crossrail train line that is being built from East to West London.

”The main idea is to try to get people out of their cars and into the trains.”

While many people want to know more about what is done to improve the environment, still a big number of people have no idea how much of an influence they have on it.

“I think the biggest issue, is balancing economic activity with environmental agenda. I suppose that we can prove that being green is good for the economy.”

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets also works in other environmental areas, such as recycling.

They have recycling targets, which they met and succeeded and helped to increase recycling by 20 percent since last year. They have also reduced carbon emissions from buildings and transport and pushed towards using electric cars.

“We comply with the environmental law and what is required, but we try to go also behind the law for our own reputation.”

It's good to know that there is so many projects going on to save the environment in the city we live in and that people want to know more about what is done and how could they help. It is important to spread this message around and help to save our planet.

Domi.

Soooo after the most amazing, almost 4 months long summer holidays I am back to London.I have to say I kinda missed this city and was looking forward this year.Mostly because now I live with my friends in a flat we rented together, and not in a share house.Benefits: I don't have to wear pants around the house.I don't have to wash the dishes right away.Wine and movie nights.Grocery shopping together.House parties....I could go on and on but there is no need to.You will find out everything during upcoming months. For now I can say I am really satisfied :)
Me and my two friends are currently looking for jobs, starting uni and enjoying that we have money to spend. Not for long though.
I will finally have time to publish all the stuff I wanted to publish during summer and do interviews with my friends who live abroad.
Sorry this post was more informal than interesting, but nothing special has happend since I arrived here.Only highligh to mention from today is that the sweater I accidentally ordered to my old address sucessfuly got back to me.YAY!

SWIM WEEK

Because Miami Swim week was happening this week,I've decided to post some inspirational pictures of models and nice and different types of bikinis and swimwear.I've chosen pieces according to my personal taste but maybe it can help you decide what kind of bikinis to buy for your vacation or just in general.I've mostly liked pieces wore by Gypsyone but also original pieces from the catwalk. As you can see the "top" of this summer are stripes and ripped/caged bikinis, flounce and wild colors.I love the full body bathing suits the most but unfortunately my body ain't ready for it.

Of course all of these are pretty expensive, but Victoria's Secret has really similiar pieces for lower prices so it is worth to look at their website if you're interested in adding some fresh style into your closet.
You can also check out topshop, new look, asos and I recommend Cacique Boutique if you're up to spending little bit more money.
:)
